After hearing of my friend Mike Rowles, Mr.DW on many forums, passing away, I decided to shoot the gun he sold me back in 2005, a Dan Wesson in .41 Magnum. This was the development gun for the SRS-1 SuperRam series and is a first issue gun.
This is the way it originally came, and the case also included a standard VH8 barrel with normal front sight. Mike did a lot of the testing using this gun, and as most know, or at least if they have seen an SRS-1, Dan Wesson went to their own design front sight hood to go with the Bo-Mar rear sight, which is smaller and rectangular in shape. Being a 10" gun, the shroud has 8 slots to make the 4 pound weight limit of IHMSA. LB made a special grip for me, out of ash, which I installed on this gun awhile ago.
I wanted to shoot this gun in Mike's honor, so it went to the range with me. I wasn't able to use it for silhouette, as that range event wouldn't be for awhile. All my shooting was from a bench, at our 200 and 300 meter gongs, and it made me sad to think of Mike, but I knew he was watching me and smiling at how well the gun shot. I will always cherish this gun and think of Mike often. He was a good friend and gentleman.

Very Cool Post. It is very hard to explain the emotions that you experience when going to the range to shoot a gun that came to you through a fallen DW brother. I do understand this one though, Tigger is also missed.
I never got to meet Mike Rowles, but followed a lot of his Mr. DW posts on other forums awhile back and they were always very informative and top notch.

I also miss Dale. We did get to shoot together one time when he stopped by the range as he was driving by in his rig.

Tigger has a permanent presence on DWF, he is a Range Officer. I like to think this Forum reflects his gentlemanly and positive contributions.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Just a bit of tribute to Dale and his "rig"
That doesn't look like it would be too speed bump friendly.
Dean, that is such a beautiful gun. Of course, it's even more special because it came to you through a good friend. Thanks for sharing it's story with us.
