All of this forum reading made me want to go shoot. So I grabbed 4 of the Dans and went out in the woods. I actually have an indoor range here I can go to but they get nervous when there are a lot of shooters and I bring out the 44. I wanted to do a little 445 supermag today so the woods seemed a better choice. Took 2 357's a 10" 44 and the SM. That much fun alone should be considered self abuse. Homemade targets and something I read about on here, shooting a large rock. Broke it into 3 pieces, gotta love that SM. Needed some sight adjustment but overall had a good shoot and a blast.

Man those look really nice! I knoiw it's not safe to shoot rocks with smaller calibers because of ricochet but you should have no problem with those beasts! Rock splitting power!
Yeah I've got to admit the rock made me a little nervous. Not sure where I got the idea! That rock weighed 5-7 lbs and it was surreal the way it just levitated when the round hit it, and fell into 3 pieces. I don't recommend this, I am not a professional, your mileage may very, haven't even slept at a Holiday Inn Express lately, just an old guy tempting Darwin. But it was a fun shoot!
I remember shooting at a dump back in the late 70's. I was even more foolish then. I had a model 29 from some other manufacturer, we had been shooting targets, and there was this truck rear end. I had always heard that they could go through cast engine blocks, too much Dirty Harry, so I thought what the heck. I shot it through the web casting. It knocked out a big chunk and set the rear end grease on fire, exiting the back cover. That rear end smoked for the whole time we were there. The guy I was shooting with gave me guff for stinking up our shooting grounds. Not smart but fun. I came from a time of bb guns, lawn darts, and lead based paint, so I'm comfortable with it. Besides, I didn't buy these big bores to just make clean wholes in paper. It's the awesome factor as well.

Any day out with Dan Wessons is a good day. I had 2 of mine out yesterday.
That is the absolute gospel. I have about 30 acres here most of it is mountain goat steep, but I'd like to set up a do it your self silhouette course just to get out and shoot more often. Indoor ranges have their place but I prefer to be outside, in the woods and plinkin as well as cutting paper.
