Just wanted to share my range experience today, took my new model 15-2 6" V barreled gun to the range today. It took me a little while to get used to it compared to my usual model 15 4" porkchop, but when I did Wow! On average I was a little less accurate then I am with the model 15 but I think that's mainly down to being less familiar with the larger grip and slightly heavier trigger pull. That said when I switch to the magnum rounds I was able to get all 12 touching, a nearly perfect smile under the X ring at 35' so all and all I am very pleased with it.

That said I do have a question for you guys. I've noticed with my 6"  porkchop barrel on my model 15 barrel that I'm lessless accurate then I am with the 4". I know there are many variables: wear, comfort with weight, and so on. My theory though is that because the sights on the 4" and 6" are the same size with it being farther away it it leaves more "light" on either side of the front sight. Which makes it harder to get the proper sight picture. I know that target sights are often wider to give a slight edge in accuracy. Does anyone else ever have similar problems. I know most of the time a longer sight radius is a benefit but I wonder if any one else feels more comfortable with a shorter barrel. Hopefully I'll get a 2.5" barrel and an 8" so I can compare more in depth but I was wondering if anyone else has had any similar experiances.

Also one last note, tonight at the range (small indoor place, but one of the few in town) we had a couple obvious new guys that brought their tricked out ARs and I have never felt less safe at a range twice one group was warned an at least twice I looked over to see a rifle pointed horizontally down the range, now I'm sure they were unloaded but still not proper edicit. Now why you would bring your AR to a indoor range that maxes out at like 65' or so I don't know but just thought I'd mention it as it convinced me to leave early. Other than that though a great trip with a new gun. And now for the gratuitous photo of the two guns dirty from a long day of work:1425607689290-1327645876.jpgImage Enlarger

I think with a little more time on the larger grip and barrel you should find it will be just as accurate as the 4".  I find my 10" is much easier to group  :)

I tend to agree with zedbra, on the longer barrel. Sadly, there is no 8" for the porker. I would think if you should be able to get the 6" doing as good as the 4", as long as the barrel is still good shape and the gap is not too loose. Couple tweaks on the rear site should get her going again.  The target grip an the -2 will take a little getting use to and more so if you don't have large hands, however, you can remedy the grip thing.  All in all you got a pair of really fine wheel guns that appear to be in great shape from the photos.  Keep at it...

At that range there should be minimal difference. Just to be clear, were group sizes widely different between both guns, or was it point of aim difference. Also, when comparing "accuracy" between two guns, I would start out with identical targets shot from a seated, fully rested/supported position

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Agree with all above.  I  like both guns, but I'm a porker and your 15 looks great.  The main issue with me for any gun right now is seeing the front sight clearly (in other words, not fuzzy) because of presbyopia (need reading glasses for close up work).  I painted the front sight with florescent paint, that helped a lot.

I might avoid that range if the range officer doesn't clamp down on the very bad behavior (no hands on any gun when the range is cleared "safe" in my book).

If we are talking range/target shooting with a handgun, THIS is an option that I highly recommend
