The .38 shroud came on the gun and is stainless (just like the receiver). The 2.5 inch shroud is blued and as long as I've owned it has never been on the gun. The cylinder only chambers .38's as well so I'm fairly certain the gun is a correct 709 in .38 and somehow the gun was sold with a 2.5 inch .357 mag blued shroud. I bought the gun for bullseye matches and never saw a reason to install the short tube, since I have better choices available for CCW.

I bought this revolver as a DW .38 spl. But the frame was a .357. I guess somebody has my .38 frame. Even the numbers match the box. Always check the cylinder to see if its a .38 spl. I got a good price on it. And I bought it from a Gun store.

I hadn't noticed that. I did notice it was a .357 mag. frame later Lol! It came with the original box and toys too. Everything but the frame, well the serial no. are the same. At least I got a .38 shroud with a new barrel on it at a good price
