Well I finally got the prize I've been looking for a 7414 SRS First Issue.  I can't describe how elated I was to go to my FFL and see this beauty in the 'flesh'.  Its even nicer than the pics I saw prior to buying.  Includes the box, door knob wrench and yellow plastic disk and manual.  Lock is as tight or tighter than any Dan I own.  I CAN'T WAIT to shoot this beauty.

BTW serial number is 37!

OK now for the cool-pics

How do they get that color change effect on the barrel tube?  I've heard it called laser treated but what does that mean?

The SRS 1 on the front sight hood seems a little light, maybe from wear, how dark should it be?  The gun has been fired but doesn't appear to have been shot a great deal, very clean in the top strap area.

Did I mention that I'm stoked about finding this one?laughlaughcool

My camera battery went dead on me or I'd have some more pics.  I'll take some more once I clean the gun and charge up my camera.

Wow nice addition to the collection Scorpio! I bet it took your breath away when you first opened that box.

I hate to be the one to tell you. But that discoloration is from over shooting a weak barrel tube. And that cheap hooted front sight is there to keep the front insert from flying out and harming you. It looks terrible in appearance. Not one of Dan Wesson's better gun's. I believe it was a second in their quality control dept. And what a terrible finish on it. That's really not stainless. Just bare pot metal. To help you save face. I will gladly come to your home and take it off your hands. No need to thank me. I will be more than happy to help you. I'm just that kind of guy.drool

Scorpio,

That's what makes this place so great, brothers helping brothers.  Dantanna is so willing to help you out of the problem you got yourself into without hesitationwink

The different colored barrel is actually called laser coated according to Keith.  It was a process they used just to enhance beauty on the guns.

BTW, now we need to make a DW Supermag Range day!

Great Idea! All I've got to do is load up a few hundred rounds and I'll be all set.
BTW I was able to find brass on line at Brass World, reasonably priced. I picked up a nice pile to tide me over future shortages. Thanks for your offer to sell me some of yours. Look at it this way, now you'll have more to shoot.

That's the crown jewel you have right there.  To answer your question on the SRS marking on the front hood.....my .357SM is the same way.  It's not worn - that's how they were engraved.  Have fun with it!

Come on along, we can have a east/southeast PA supermag range day.

The only pics I saw prior to buying were not very good, poor focus and no real detail. He never mentioned the box, barrel tool or manual either. I more or less knew it was a First Issue but I had no idea of the serial number. To say I was thrilled when I opened the box would be an understatement. Now to get loading so I have something other than 41mags to shoot in it.

We need to make a point of doing a PA super mag range day. I'm all for it. Just have to figure out where to go.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Hey Team,  I can only have one guest at my range where Ed and Lonwolf and I have shared range time before.  Do any of you guys have ranges that are pay per shoot outdoors or other range accomodations for guests?  New Years day is always a great time to get out and shoot.  Thoughts?

Let me check with my gun club, I joined this year and haven't really been there much. I mainly joined for the indoor range for winter shooting. Usually I use the public range at one of the local game lands, its only a few miles from my house.

Are there any public ranges at any of the Lancaster Co./Lebanon county game lands?

Very nice score on the 7414, especially a First Issue!

Our range allows guests, they pay $5 for the day, but it isn't open all the time, being a state-owned property.

I am going to have a handgun steel shoot at our range next May, tentatively the 15th-18th. It will have all the handgun silhouette targets available, except Air Pistol, out to 200 meters. There are a couple of gongs at 300 meters also available. I am inviting a few select friends from around the country. This is not affiliated with any other website. The event is F R E E for anyone.

I am inviting ALL DWF members who would like to come shoot here. When I get the dates confirmed, I will post this in the Lounge.
