Stinger said,"I met-up with Old Dog earlier this week and he inspected my FB and declared the finish to be a very dark blueing and not Nickel Black, as I was told by the guy who I bought it from."

Pete its good its not black nickel now you can shoot and enjoy it. Instead of just being able to take it out of the safe and look at it.
All the pressure is gone now. Enjoy I passed on a really nice Palmer gun for a monson last year and I still kick myself in the butt for letting it go.
Sorry about the Purse comment just having fun.

Well, if you don't shoot it you have to immediatly buy another you can shoot. And another, and another... It's value is what you paid for it. I have not yet bought a fixed barrel because I just can't give up the interchangable barrel thing. They are fairly uncommon but about the same value as a regular Dan, maybe a little less. The market does not value a NIB Dan quite so much as other guns such as a Python. It is very hard to tell the difference between a lightly fired gun and an unfired gun. One thing to avoid is putting scratches on the sideplate by letting the cylinder close while ejecting cases. It is natural to tilt the gun clockwise when opening it but that means the cylinder tries to close. Hold it tilted to the left with your index and middle fingers through the frame pushing on the cylinder.. Oh, since it doesn't much hurt it if taking care, I say shoot it.
