I didn't want to step on Scot's great story about SNs, so I'll post here.
Way back when I purchased my new 715, it came through with my date of birth as the SN. I didn't notice it until I was doing the paper work. This one is definitely a keeper!
Any of you folks have special SN on your guns or other items?

I know of guys who are S&W collectors and by one made in the year they were born.
One gun I have is a Ruger Single Sic flat gate from 1953...it is my birth year, and...my mom bought it that year!
Scott, you're welcome!!

It was originally going to be part of a series on large game from American Historical, but at some point the project was halted. It sat in their shop for many years, until I happened to spot it on one of the auction sites. No idea on how many were made with this same number type.

Sweet, I'd like to find out what all was made in that series. I sent a letter to Senator McConnell and Sen. Paul to see if I could get some access to old ATF files for us, but after 2 mos. still no response..

I am constantly letting them know my thoughts about a lot of things....We are on a first name basis now,lolol... I also contact the Senators and Congressmen from other states concerning policy...
I do hope this particular subject bares fruit.

I have a couple with different numbers one is a 715 # C1, the other is a blue 44mag with RGD 1, it has twin 15-2 pac out there somewhere. Picked both of these off GB a few years ago!
"RGD" took possession of that one on 3/30/82, he got PGF-1, also a Model 44 at the same time.
He took possession of the RGD-1 15-2 on 2/21/79, he got a second 15-2 PGF-1 about a month later
All of these were originally purchased in MA
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
