My sierra manual calls for Federal 205M primers.  The Hornady manual calls for Remington 7 1/2 primers.

I personally use Winchester small rifle primers (WSR) with my Remington 357 Maximum cases. Regardless of the primers that you end up using, be sure to work with the corresponding reload recipes.

The .357 SuperMag was designed to use small rifle primers. Mine uses Federal 205 or 205M's.

Magnum primers are typically used when loading large charges of slow-burning ball powders such as Winchester 296 (H110).  Magnum primers should only be used when the load data indicates it, usually by an asterisk * or two. Particularly until one becomes more experienced with handloading; I'd stay with published loads only.  If there is a maximum load listed, reduce it by 5 percent.
