So far, my favorite load consists of; 180gr Speer Sil. TMJ, with 18gr 4227 ahead of CCI400 bang caps.
Definitely stick with 180gr bullets (or heavier), to avoid much of the dreaded flame cutting problem.
Good to see ya around, Freerider! Wish I was in Florida today...fall/winter sux.

Freerider, the Hornady SSP bullet was meant for TC Contender loads, when crimping to the
cannelure of the Hornady SSP the bullet will be too long for the SuperMag cylinder to rotate.

I run 2400 powder for 357MAX
17grns 2400 with 158grn HP/FMJ bullets
15grn 2400 with 180grn HP/FMJ bullets

Good to know.
I was going to burn out some test loads. I just unpacked my reloading stuff, and can't find my shell holders anywhere. I have all my dies and everything, just no dang shell holders. I have a set of all sizes coming in on Tuesday...

I just sorted through all the brass I got with the gun (600 odd pieces) and some of the bags were marked by the owner as being used in his t/c.
I've been looking for an encore for a while, now I really have to get one...and then get both 357max and 445sm barrels for it. Something tells me tcd (thompson center disease) is just as bad as dwas.
ETA: I could always load the ssp bullets in magnum cases and shoot them from the model 40. That could be interesting for hog hunting.
ETA....A:found a 357 shell holder, made a few dummy rounds with some 158 tmj's to set my dies. Tomorrow I'm going to crank out some live ones and hopefully take my new gun out for a spin sometime this week.

TC Contenders and Encores are almost as bad as DWAS. Don't ask me how I know but suffice to say my frame count is 7 and my barrel count is, well...more than 7.
So true...been there, done that!
One thing I did years ago was to trim .357 Maximum brass back to 1.483", then I could load those Hornady rifle bullets, seat to the cannelure and crimp in the cannelure. They shot pretty well.
Favorite powders are IMR-4227, then the H-version of that. A good purchase would be a Redding Profile Crimp die to make the crimp on your reloads more consistent and more accurate.
