Well I hope this isnt cheating since it's technically a .38 special load... But, for me it's 3.0 grains of Alliant's Red Dot powder behind a 150 grain cast boolit cast from a Lyman 358311 mold. That's my plinking load for .38 special for use in my .357 magnum guns.
My more serious.38 special +P load is 5.0 to 5.5 grains of Alliant's Unique behind either a 150 grain cast lead boolit, or a typical 158 grain JHP.
For 158 grain JSP or JHP .357 Magnum loads I go with 11.0 grains of Bluedot. (Note: has a large muzzle blast) I tend to shoot this through my rifle, more than the pistols. My other popular, and more often used .357 Magnum load is 8.0 grains of Alliant's Unique, behind a 158 grain JSP.
I will often just use 44 special loads for plinking in the 44 Magnum, loaded up in 44 special brass. 7.0 grains of Alliant's Unique behind a 240 grain cast lead SWC in .44 special brass is my favorite lightweight plinker 44 special load.
My all around 44 Magnum load is 10 grains of Unique behind a 240 grain cast lead boolit. I am fond of the Lee C429-240SWC mold, and I have one that's been hollow pointed.
For heavier 44 Mag loads, I use W96/H110 for a powder choice, and I use a CCI large pistol magnum primer with my H110 loads. 24 grains of Hodgdon's H110 behind a 240 grain Hornady XTP bullet, or 20 grains of H110, behind a Hornady 300 grain XTP.
