I just came across a number (200) new unfired .445 supermag brass with the .445/Gates headstamp! Is there any collector value to these and should be kept pristine ,or do I just load e'm and shoot e'm up? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would think there is some collector value to these cases, especially new unfired.  If I had found them I probably would keep them that way if you have the resource to obtain others like Starline to load and shoot.

I've got 100 rounds of those new with Gates headstamp too.  I got them to load but couldn't bring myself to load them due to the potential collectability.  I got some Starline and used that.

Some time back, a year or so, I bought a 100 pieces of 414 brass ( the buy it and the gun will come theory) and it is Starline brass but has the ET Gates head stamp. Is that special? I assumed it all had that head stamp.

All the .414 brass has the E.T.Gates headstamp. My original Dan Wesson from Palmer came with 100 pieces of that first run of brass...the most they would let you buy with the gun.

I don't have any .445 with the Gates head stamp, but I do have a box of IHMSA brass that I have left unloaded. No biggie, I have plenty of Starline to keep me busy.smile

The .375 head stamp is the odd man out in this pic, being a trimmed Win case, but the rest are as they should be.

Here's a couple others I haven't loaded either. A box of nickel .357 SM...

And a box of .375, this came with my gun when I bought it.

Those are some cool pics.  Sometimes I just feel sad that for the most part I missed the best times of exotic magnum rounds. I am glad some examples are being preserved, though I would feel better it they just made a down-right comeback.
