I was reloading a mixed batch of what I thought was all 45 ACP. After 200 rounds I looked closer at the Nickel plated 'brass' that for some reason was mixed in with the spent brass brass. The reason I was looking closer was because the Nickel 'brass' appeared to be new unfired without primers and it was mixed in with firing range brass. The head stamp is Star Line 45 Super. Is that the same as 45 ACP???

.45 Super was developed in the late '80's by Dean Grennell. The case is externally identical in dimension to .45 ACP. Inside, it has heavier case walls and is thicker around the case rim to reduce case bulge and blowout in the portion of the case unsupported in the 1911. This allowed stronger loading, allowing up to a 300 fps increase in what is a .45 ACP case. Firing this in a standard 1911 is possible, but requires a stronger recoil spring, and a well constructed 1911.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
