To reload 45 Win Mag. can one use 45 Long Colt dies and adjust them or does this caliber require its own dies? I think I'm going to need to start reloading this cartridge soon.
OK, I'm stupid (got a cold and the meds make me dopey). I think I meant to say, 45ACP dies instead of 45 Long Colt.
So, can I load 45 win mag with 45 acp dies?

I sent an email to Dillon Precision (I have a Dillon XL650 press) and I'll wait to hear their answer. What I've read seems to indicate that the 45 win mag is a lengthened 45 acp case with thicker webbing to support much higher working pressures. Seems like a slightly larger case than the 460 Rowland which again is a lengthened and strengthened 45 ACp case.

You may be right. I use Hornady but i like the Lee dies. Usually they tell you on there sets what all can be loaded.

I was just reading that very thing. Shell plate is different on Hornady.

Dillon lists a different shell plate for the 45 win mag vs the 45 acp. The rest of the caliber conversion parts I have from various other caliber kits I load for so I should only need a shell plate and a die adjustment. I may splurge and get a spare tool head and dies so I don't have to mess with my 45 acp dies, I hate fiddling to get them after they are just right.
Thanks guys!
