Hey guys.
I just wanted to ask if anybody has a reloading manual with 45 winmag info for 230gr JHP (Hornady XTP) loads using IMR4227 powder.
I have 3 manuals: Sierra, Nosler, and Speer. The only of these with 45 winmag data is the Sierra manual for 230gr JHP but there is no data for 4227. I have been on Hodgdon's website and found data with H4227 (now IMR4227) but with a 230 FMJ FP bullet. I can use the OAL from the Sierra manual for JHP but I would feel far more comfortable if I had 2 sets of powder charge data for 4227 to compare.
I am still waiting for my brass to show but am trying to get my data together so I can start load testing once it gets here. Can anyone please help me out?

Hey pops.
I will pass along the info when I find it as well. Will see if I can find a couple more manuals tomorrow.
I noticed a strange discrepancy in info for H110 and 230gr. JHP's. Data from Sierra was from a Grizzly while data from Hodgdon says nothing more than 5" barrel. Sierra has a max load that is 6 grains under the Hodgdon minimum load. The max load Sierra shows is slow compared to the Hodgdon load, which makes perfect sense. The part is that doesn't make sense is the pressure readings are very similar, which simply doesn't compute with 6 additional grains of powder. I have NEVER run into this large of a discrepancy in information with any of the other 8 calibers I load for.
I guess this is the price to be paid for loading a relatively obscure cartridge even though I've never had this problem with SuperMag loads.

I have the Hornady 4th Edition. It shows IMR-4227 data for the 230 grain FMJ-RN or FP.
Starting load is 21.4 grains @ 1350 fps to a max load of 25.0 grains @ 1500 fps. This data is for a 14" Contender.
I am using Accurate #7 for my 15" Contender with 230 and 250 grain bullets.

Thank you IHMSA.
I just took another look at the Hodgdon site and found the max load w/4227 to be showing the same 25gr. through a 5" barrel that you show in the Hornady manual. I am far more comfortable loading new calibers when I have consistent, or at least reasonably close data to work with.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond- I very much appreciate it.
