Hello, 15-2 .22cal 8" barrel Burris hand gun scope BC gap set to .004
shooting at 50 yd. using CCI minimag. First 3 shots hit within 1 1/2 " then shots begin to hit up, down, left and right. Can't get any kind of a good group.
Let the gun cool down and the same thing all over again. It could be just me, but I dont get that when I shoot the S/W Mo. 41 Also I'm shooting from a sand bag rest with both. Any ideas,I really like the gun but was expecting better accuracy than that, any ideas? Thanks in advance, Jim
Good Morning Jim,
22's are known to be picky about the ammo they eat so I would first try 4 or 5 different brands to see if you get the same results. If you search the forum there is some write-ups about 22 ammo selection.
Also wanted to let you know that your DW is a model 22. The model 15-2 is a 357.
Some of the other guys will be along shortly to give you some more ideas.

x1 on ammo testing. I've had good luck w/ Eley brands.
Also check to see if the rear sight is staying put- you can do that with whiteout. Finally check the barrel nut to ensure it's snug and the barrel isn't rotating on you- you can use white out for that too.
My $.02
If that doesn't work, I have a hundred bucks laying aroung and will take it off your hands

I had the same problem with my 722. In my case, the plating of the bore was flaking off causing the barrel to lead up quickly and inconsistently. DW (pre CZ) sent me a new barrel and the problem was cured.
Your 22 barrel is blue so it is not plated, but check the condition of the bore. It may be pitted. New barrels are not that expensive and may fix your problem.

Here's a sort of wacky possibility: Since the barrel is tensioned at both ends, it sort of "free floats" in the shroud. If the outside of the barrel, or the inside of the shroud has any irregularity or debris, the barrel may be flexing as it heats up. I don't think three rounds of.22lr in a DW 22 barrel should heat the barrel up all that much, but you just never know.
My money would be on trying different ammo. I have owned, or shot extensively, over a dozen .22lr pistols/revolvers, and every single one has been ammunition sensitive for accuracy and function. Right now I have 14 different brands of .22lr ammunition, leftovers from ammunition hunting for the right one for a particular gun.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
