There is a rumor going round in my circle of friends that the gun control groups hve pressured the gun powder mfgs to put an additive in the powder that will turn the powder inert after a period of time.
I guess it's along the same lines of controling ammo supplies, to control guns. What ever started the rumor about the ammo worked, as supplies have dried up. I my part of the country, 22LR is about the only supplies in large quanties.

That's no rumor, and it has been around a long time-- anti-gunners want ammo to have a "shelf life" to avoid strockpiling. Not only is powder an issue, but they are trying to push for primers with a definite shelf life so you have to shoot them in a timely manner. No big deal for me, I shoot alot, so I'll just keep rotating my stock 🙂

I just want to go on record as saying the entire idea of powder and primers having a shelf life is right down Un-American!

This is outragous!!! My God, what is happening to this country? How much more do we have to swallow before we march in the streets!
I suppose the shortage in primers ultimately will have something to do with retooling to make the new short shelf life style.
We all sit back and listen to Rush and Glen and bitch, when will the time come to do something! I vote for throwing out all of the Lib/Dems on each voting cycle until we are completely purged!
Merry Christmas Everyone.

However, this quality also creates a potentially dangerous situation because it allows anyone to stockpile large quantities of ammunition without any anticipated legitimate use. Subversive individuals and groups are therefore able to "out-gun" law enforcement personnel attempting to execute lawful search and arrest warrants because of the nearly endless amount of ammunition that can be expended from a fortified position in an armed conflict.
Sounds like the schmucks over at the Brady group!
I'll spare the details of my ammo storage habits, suffice it to say I'm well prepared

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I highly doubt that primer and powder manufacturers will bend to that untill a law is passed. Just a few thoughts come to mind, if the powder degrades over time and somebody shoots now a squib load, then stacks another normal load on top of it and is injured from cartridge componant degradation. The lawsuit alone would be a monster.
What about law inforcement getting a batch of degredated ammo? That would also be a bad senario in a life or death situation.
Sounds like an internet roumor that got out of hand. BUT, the future is very uncertain!!!
