Not the greatest photo, but note that there are 2 separate guide slots cut along the shaft of the star. Never seen this before. Came with a cylinder/crane assembly I got on eBite. using one of the slots, the star lines up perfectly. Using the other slot, it is off by about 1/8 inch. Anyone else seen this or able to explain it?

Is the the star and assembly that you send me a PM about?

No. Not the same one. This is from a different batch of parts.

hmmm.357 or .44?
my .44's and supermags have 2 slots, but my Monson .357's are all single slot.
I'd ask, does the star sit correctly and flush with the recess' at the case head cutouts?
Fits flush when using the correct slot, and definitely a 357. Now I have to check my large frames to see what they have!😄

most likely 40/740 extractor. As Rich mentioned, the SMs have two slots
wouldn't the 40 star shaft be longer than one on a std mdl 15?
I know when swapping b/s assys between my .44's and .445's, I do have to mind the ejector rods..now you are gonna make me pull one to check...
