I just puchased a DW 44 mag with 10”, 8” and 4” barrels. The revolver looks fantastic with a bright shiny blued finish. It looks like new. Though it may have been fired I think it has been idle for decades. The issue is that eveything is stuck. The 10” barrel is on the frame and I have ordered the EWK wrenches to free the stuck barrel nut. Two of the sight set screws are stuck so tight that I am unwilling to put more pressure on the allen wrench (I wouldn’t even thnk of using the plastic DW tool). My major worry is that the barrel tubes are stuck in the shrouds of the 8” and 4” and that will also be the case with the 10” on the frame. I see no signs of rust anywhere.
I have tried a rubber mallet but I don’t want to get more aggressive than that with hammering on it. I have sprayed WD40 in the slots of the shrouds of the 8” and 4” but the 10” has no slots.
What is going on and how do I solve this problem? Do the barrel tubes on the 44 fit in the shroud that much tighter than the 357? I have a DW 357 and the tubes rattle in the shrouds when they aren’t on a frame.
Any help will be appreciated.
By the way, who ever owned this before jammed a small frame grip on this large frame pistol. Round peg in a square hole.
Without first hand knowledge I suspect the 8 and 4 " BAs have ported barrel tubes. Unless they are scrubbed out after every use they will fill the shroud with residue. Soaking the BAs in Dextron transmission fluid may help. There are products like Breakfree that may work better but I have never used any. The good news is the 10 inch is not ported. Once you remove the nut the barrel should not be stuck in the shroud. Some folks used to loctite the nut but with multiple barrels I doubt that is the case. You might try putting the gun in the freezer and oven alternately. Not very hot oven. The different parts may expand and contract differently and break free. Others will be along to give you better advice I am sure. When you have it apart, cleaned and oiled, remember, never overtighten anything on a Dan. Snug is good.

Soak the barrel and shroud in automatic transmission fluid overnight and then try to remove the tube. Someone was using the power control tube and not cleaning after every use. Carbon fouling and bullet shavings get in the space between the tube and shroud and build up and stick the tube. Soak It and be patient, avoid hitting the threads with anything if possible. A heat gun or hair dryer cab also help free it up.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Thanks for the advice. The barrels that are in the shrouds now are not power ports but the barrels could have been changed out. I have my ATF and found some covered Rubbermaid “Take Alongs”, $3 for two at Walmart, because I know ATF can be smelly. The barrels are inn the ATF bath now. I will attempt disassembly of the frame today but have to wait for the EWK delivery of the barrel nut wrenches to attempt to take off the 10” barrel.
I have seen some people recommend mixing in some acetone with the ATF. Opnions?

Update. All the barrels are out of their shrouds. All seemed clean when they came apart but when I wiped off the barrel tube brown stuff came off on the towel. I immediately put everything back in the ATF bath.
After all the trouble I had with getting the sights off the .44 barrels I took off the sights of all my .357 barrels and plunked everything in the ATF. I’ll let all that soak overnight and give everything a good scrubbing.
I still have to wait for the EWK barrel nut wrench to work on the frame of the .44. I found it is VERY difficult to tear down the frame when it is attached to a 10” heavy barrel. Not worth the trouble and it’s so clumsy that I’m going to lose something or scratch something.

Yes 50/50 mix, or do the double whammy and whip up a gallon of Ed's Red. Buy a gallon metal paint can when you buy the mineral spirits. Skip the Kero just use diesel.
edit - link to recipe. Weird, pastes into the top..
