I have acquired a rather rough Undercover grip. Wondering should I simply reshape and Use...or try to Graft a repair to regain shape??

No "Pitch it", is not in my Repertoire!

The first photo don't really show it..but, there is a very flat unsightly Area removed from bottom..

If I reshape it will need to be Shorter, by quite a bit.

I appreciate All Input

If you don't have an ugly gun to put it on, or you can try to refinish it.   Don't pitch it.   It's worth something to someone.

Leave as it is. Conceal carry guns get a beating. No sense wasting time trying to fix it. When not carrying, buy several grips including a Zebra to wear to church. A Pachmyer for the range and woods too.

I like the way you think Ole Dog...but...can't take quite that ugly...rather round off the bottom and refinish..

I do have other grips.. for some reason the Pachmayr Grippers Fit the High Standard better.. so they stay there most, unless the Originals are called for...Showing Off. Otherwise, I really like the Traditional...what I call Duty grip.. Mine got a Tyler-T long ago.. Then...I do have a FingerGroove stock, that is rather Odd...probably custom by someone!! I should get a Picture of...Soon

Maybe the Undercover smoothed and shortened at bottom will be even more Compact!!!

Thanks for Chiming in

Finger groove grip looks like a Hogue that someone put a DWA medallion onto it.

Looks like a Hogue to my eye as well...certainly the profile at the Bottom!!

BTW; If I could find maybe One DW medallion I would love it on other side...But...Not paying the prices I see at the usual places.. I'll wait for someone to Pirate the thing...Not like the Originators are in business to be taken advantage of...That happened Long Ago!!

I may be wrong, but CZ owns all things Dan Wesson, I believe.  I think Seth Wesson (swesson) on eBay is grandson to Dan.  He sells medallions there, maybe he’s “grandfathered” (pun intended).  And I agree, prices are kinda crazy these days for everything, not just DW stuff!

Use some of this to the fill in the flat spots, then reshape.

https://www.minwax.com/en/products/maintenance-repair-tools/high-performance-wood-filler

It takes stain 'okay' but if you take some time you can get it to blend in to almost disappear.

This is my vote .. fill and shape. You don't want that grip any smaller.

Make a template and try to duplicate it. That way if you F it up, it's not the original.

I have the medallions on the Undercovers.. But, I would like to inlet a medallion into the right side of the Hogues, that I have..

The diameter is a Minimum of 5/8" for those...and, I much prefer the DWA medallions... But, I appreciate the Input...Keep it comimg

I will end up with some Nice...Non OE Stuff!!!

Inexpensive stuff at Gunparts!!

Oh okay, I was talking about using those medallions for a duplicate undercover, but i'll keep my eyes out for a 5/8 medallion. If you have one you may be able to 3d print one pretty easily.

Oh...I do Not have a 3D printer.. Prolly take some talent to duplicate something like that.. The people I know that gots 'em, make Boxes etc!!!

Not Hugely concerned, as that side of the Hogue got Smoothed...and I do Not like "stuff" biting into me when I shoot...But.. will continue looking just because!!

Sometime soon, will try to glue a block, maybe two, onto Undercover grip... let er dry, and start shaping!!! Luckily, I do Not care much, how long it takes!!

There are places that you can rent a 3d printer. I think some FedEX locations have them. I don't know all the details but all you need is a cad file of the part and they will make it for you. There are a bunch of places online that do the same thing and some do metal printing (Handy if you need to make a die...).

If you can get a scan of the part, they can duplicate it. If not, then how are your CAD skills?
