I also use H-110 with great results but would also like to try AA1680 but can't fined any locally.   I find 31gn H-110 behind a 240gn JRN to be a fun round at the range but not hateful or hurtful.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Iam using 33.5 grs of AA1680 Behind a 300 gaschecked hard cast. I think i could push 'er faster but its already a hand full even out of my 10inch barrel havent clocked it yet for velocity but probably around 1600ish. I didnt like H-110 as it seemed to be touch and go whether or not it was going to become a bomb. Also i would like to add  has anyone used any Accurate 4100 in their supermags? Got to looking on Loham arms trying to find other powders to try and came across it says its good for the 357,41,44,454,460,and the 500 seems to me like it would work in the 445 as well .

Where do you get your Boolits Ray?

My favorite in the SM's is AA-1680.  I have also used H-110 and the 4227's, but keep going back to the AA-1680 for consistency in accuracy and not as temperature volatile as H-110.

Country Boy,

Sorry for the delay but I don't get on here everyday, I cast most of my boolits but have used some from corbon, and cast performance lbt series with good results. My .445 seems to like the heavier boolits better, also have shot a number of different jacketed bullets with very good results.

   Many Blessings, Ray

Thanks for the info Ray. Was thinking of getting into the casting side of things but got so many logs on the fire now hardly have time for shooting.

  Many Thanks, Ray

AA-1680 is my favorite powder for the .445SM. It works very well for the 250, 265 and 300 grain jacketed bullets I shoot.

You are getting this info from one of the most expert reloaders and Supermag  guys you will ever find.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Greetings

I am very happy with 1680 in my DW 8 inch .375 and 414 SM's with heavy for caliber lead gas checked bullets.  I do not shoot store bought.  But 1680 in an 8 inch gives good acceleration, burns clean, very consitent velocity and does not cause problems even with less than WW cast bullets.  I hve shot as soft as 50-50 (50% WW 50% range scrap) for hunting which means 1 shot and no leading to a properly sized bullets (.001 over throat).

I also use 1680 in my 414 SM Contender and 414 SM 336 Marlin and again very pleased with the results.

Sadly I cannot have those items down here and only get to shoot them when up north there.
