A new gun shop opened up near Quakertown, PA. Big Sky Gun Shop, owner's name is Dale Green. http://bigskygunshop.com/
He does re-bluing and I saw some of his work, so, I took in my "beater" 44 Mag to have it refinished. It has some pitting but not too bad and Dale said he could get most of it out. I told him if he does a good job that perhaps he may hear from some members, so "do your best job" on it.
He also can do hard case finishing. I'll post some when I get it back.

Here are some pics of the re-blued beater 44 Mag. The cylinder was pretty pitted and some still remains but less than half of it survived the re-blue. The frame was purple and had some pitting and the shroud had some pitting. Most all of this was removed. Dale said the purple will not return, hmm. I think it came out very well considering the shape it was in when I bought it. Wish I could find the original pics, but alas, I can't.

Jaggman,
That looks like a nice deep shine, it is good to know of a reliable bluer within driving distance, at least for us PA members. I know deep pits can be tough, most guys are reluctant to remove a lot of metal from a cylinder that may possibly become a timing/function or strength issue.
Maybe you will check back here with this gun in a few months, let us see whether the frame color changes at all? It sure looks like a nice beater now! Gotta love the 8" barrel.

The bluing job does look top notch, from the pics. I am especially impressed that the roll marks don't look like they're either filled in or buffed away to half their original depth, like many re-blue jobs do. Pitting can definitely be problematic, and yours does look like it had some serious cancer starting to eat away, but it sure does look beautiful today!
Thanks for showing it off.
