I am having a problem threading any barrel in one of my 15-2s. I tried many.
I get the barrel in 7 threads in and stops.
I have tried cleaning, soaking no luck.
I placed a 2" .22 barrel in it and put a cleaning rod in the bore, it it lines up with the ball so I don't think that he crane is bent. (Not as fancy as shoots lathed tool but it works.)
I used a dental pick to check for crud in the threads but found nothing.
It look clean.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a variation in the thread angle. My 44 mag barrel wont screw into my 445 frame. Well, it will for a few turns. The barrel threads are at a fraction of a different angle it appears to me. One is a Monson barrel and the other is a Palmer frame. I don't know if that makes a difference in the way they were tooled. Some of the guys here can help you out on that issue.

Are you saying that you were able to install a .22 barrel? Fully installed in the frame threads? I'm hoping not, because a .22 barrel will (at least should) not screw in to a .357 frame. If it will easily accept a .22 barrel, the threads are absolutely screwed up.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have a few frames that are "tight"... I can turn them in to .006 by hand, but it takes a little effort.
If your gun was shot with a loose barrel, it can result in rounded/stretched threads in both the frame and the barrel.
Try turning a well oiled barrel in a little at a time, then back it out, clean it up, relube it, and thread it back in again... sometimes you just need to chase the threads a little bit.

The .22 barrel just drops in past the threads, I was using it a a gauge to see if the frame was bent. I even tried to make a "cast" if the threads with wood glue but t tore up my "mold" when I removed it, I may try clay.
I tried chasing it with oil, back off, turn some more but it just fetches up.
I will mess with it some more but it may have to go to the gunsmith.

I'm curious as to what company made the frame? And what company made the barrels you are trying to screw into the frame. Did the frame have a barrel in it when you bought it? Or did you just buy a frame. As I mentioned my 445 barrel is identical to the 44 mag. barrel except for the threads that screw into the frame. A slight pitch difference. My frame is a Palmer a latter company of DW and my 44 mag barrel is a Monson from an earlier company. It threaded a few turns and then I met resistance. So I stopped there and used the 445 barrel. The nut threads were identical on both though.
This brings up another question for me. Has anyone noticed a difference in SM frames accepting non-SM barrels of the same size. My 445 SM has those oblique tool marks circulating the barrel. I suppose that means it's a SM barrel on the Palmer barrel. It won't screw into the Monson frame.
Could that 15-2 frame be a SM frame? Well don't force it. There has to be an answer to the problem. If you know of a machine shop close to where you live they can tell you the thread difference and check it to see if there is any damage to the threads. Good luck, keep us posted. EWK (Eric) may be able to help.

It's cured! I got a tap from Eric, chased the threads and it works fine now.
I would like to publicly thank Eric at EWK for the use of his tap. I've had the best experience with his products and support. His fiber sites are awesome, the extra heavy shrouds turn heads at the range and I keep extra spring kits on my work bench.
