I am finally looking into obtaining a chronograph and am looking for suggestions on what make and model would be the best bet for handgun usage.  Please offer any suggestions that are for a unit that stands the test of time..

Thanks,

I'm no expert, but I've had my Chrony F1 forever and she keeps chugging along...

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.  Midway always has at least one on sale.

I have a ProChrono Digital and it works fine. Haven't had it long enough to give an endurance report.

This one is a good one for about 90-100 bucks. It keeps about 9 strings of 10 shots. You can order a cable for a remote for it and a computer cord to hook your Lap Top up to. This adds and keep downloads of your shot groups to your computer. I've had mine for 10 years and it works great. You can measure the speed of arrows, pellet guns and any caliber of guns.  It's called the "Pro Chrono."  The newer one have more functions on them.

Thanks so far guys.  I did read that the RCBS plastic units are not very well liked.  Keep the ideas flowing.

My Shooting Chrony bata master was a good unit until a used Ohler came along. the CED M2 is highly regaurded in my rifle crowd.

Just get something that has controlls and readout back at the bench.

I've have almost pulled the trigger on buying one a dozen or so times,

suprisingly the cost of chrono's has not went up much in the last 10 years

and now is the time to buy if your going to. What keeps me from buying

one is the thought of dragging it along with all the other stuff.

One thing about the Chrono is that it will let you know if you are reloading consistently. And once you find that sweet load for your gun. You can repeat it later by duplicating the velocity. When powder Lots change or you use a different powder it can help you get back to that sweet load. [Remember not to go over the book's recommended powder load with out a lot of caution.]
