I assume you will be using the same extraction star as for the 22lr, which means it will also have to be bored. If so, I don't think any other changes are needed. I have a 22lr frame that came with a bored out cylinder for 22mag. I also purchased another 22lr cylinder assembly with its own star, etc. on eBay and they both interchange easily and time perfectly. This might not work with every gun but I predict it will on 98% of them.
The 22 magnum is slightly larger than 22 LR but very few manufacturers offer a different barrel for 22 magnum when there is both cylinders offered. Ditto the forcing cone. 22 Magnum is 1/1000 larger than 22 LR. That is less than the difference between 357( really .358) and 9mm (.356). The 2 thousands difference could affect accuracy but not for most shooters.

Thanks Ole Dog. I appreciate you explaining that.

I have a question about the barrel on "conversion" revolvers. Is the "forcing cone" or breach, the same size as a 22 LR? I'm wondering if it might be slightly larger for a magnum? Thanks.

With the Dans, yes. The 22lr and 22mag barrels are exactly the same

I was reading a magazine with an article about the Ruger Wrangler coming out in 22 LR and 22 Mag. It explained why the same cylinder can't be used for LR and Mag shells like other calibers, 38 - 357, 44 mag - 44 special can.
The shell casing is thicker that results in a larger diameter cylinder to be needed. If you shoot LR in a mag cylinder, the LR case could split and cause problems. I always thought the bullet was a larger diameter. But then it wouldn't be a .22 caliber bullet.
I live and learn...
