I've got a 6" DW 741, the barrel has a ring in the bore, somehow.
Out of curiosity, where in the barrel is the bulge?
Ole Dog and I were discussing alternative solutions. We speculated that the factory could rework the damaged barrel and get at least a 2-1/2" Barrel, if not a 4" from it. Obviously depends where the ring is. They could machine a new forcing cone or muzzle, depending what end was tossed in the garbage You could then use any large frame shroud in that length to shoot it, while you continue your quest.
With a total barrel length of 6", the ring is 3.75" from the breech end. If I was to have it cut down to 4"... which wouldn't hurt my feelings... it would put the ring right at the muzzle, which would probably destroy any accuracy potential. The idea of a .41MAG with a 2.5" barrel doesn't really appeal to me, although I appreciate the thought and suggestion.
And, just to restate, the barrel isn't bulged... the outside is still true, it's just that weird ring in the bore. I really need to get a borescope and look at the silly thing to see what it really is.

Kurt, Fords of Crystal River might be able to make a long 44 BA or barrel. And you could berth your boat in Crystal River. You would be 3 hrs from Snake-eye, 90 minutes from me and another 60 minutes from Stinger .
Thanks! I’ll definitely give them a shout. Glad their web URL was posted here too. I now recall KarlH recommended in the past Paldine Machine Services too.
