I got a 15-2 to replace the missing hand, do some blue and tune-up. Got hand from Numrich. came in the white. No info about working and the such. When I compare it to the hand in my own gun it looks pretty close. assuming it made need a little fitting. My questions are; since this piece is in the white, do I have to case harden the hand or should I just do any fitting then blue it with the rest of the parts?
Next, I have never blued a revolver, do I need to plug the chambers in the cylinder or any of the openings like the recess for the bolt plunger and spring? I am not bluing the barrel only the shroud.
any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

well, I don't think its SS. I say that because of the grind marks. it does need to be polished. I may just have to spend that time on the phone and call Numrich to find out. Thanks oledog

How did the hand-fitting, and the shroud bluing go? What type bluing?
When I blue my new shrouds, I plan on bluing the entire shroud, not plugging any part of it. You had asked about that. (So, it sounds like you want to do a hot blue on it, yes?)
Have you ever noticed that 3+5+7 is GREATER than 9+1+1 ? .

Steve I used oxopho blue. I dont have a hot tank but that will come in the future. I did warm the parts with a heat gun. Turned out pretty good I thought and my customer was very happy. I did not plug any holes. I wasnt sure because I had never done a revolver and was concerned about chambering afterwards. Not sure why cuase I never had any problems with rifle or shot gun. Brain fark at the moment.
