I have had a .357 15-2 since the early 80's. I reload my own bullets just for plinking. I have never pushed any load to their maximum load. I read somewhere that they recommended for this particular hand gun (not a Dan) to not load +P loads if the gun was older than 1985. I have no paper work for my gun so I don't know what the recommendations are but as I stated I have never loaded anything more than moderate in this gun. I am thinking about maybe starting to hunt which might require adjusting my loads. Any advice?

First off, the "obligatory" disclaimer that DWF provides information and the the reloader is responsible for his/her actions.
Is this a Dan Wesson Small Frame revolver, your post is not clear "(not a Dan")
Dan Wesson revolvers are very durable and strong. In 1979/80/81... reloaded for my first 15-2 to some pretty frightening levels, as I look back now. That gun is still shooting strong and tight with no issues.
I have absolutely no concern loading any of my 15-2/715's into the +P+ range
BUT, you do what makes sense for you
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The article was pertaining to 9 mm hand gun loads. It didn't specify what type of gun. I have always been careful on examining my cases after loading & firing them for signs of over pressure. I reload both 38 & 357 cases for this gun and have never had problems. I guess what I was after was is there a particular manufactures cut off date to not use +P loads in any guns.

That S/N is most likely a 1979 gun. It would be most accurately identified as a 15-2 4V
"V" identifies the B/A as a vent rib, BUT the barrel configuration DOES NOT relate to a Model ID. Unlike almost any other revolver, the barrel style does not describe the Model ID. A DW revolver that started life as a 6" could very easily become a 2/4/8/10"

Thanks. It very well could have been manufactured in 79 as my recollection (not so sharp as it was in 79) that I purchased it in the early 80's. As soon as I figured out what scope mount & scope I want I plan to turn it into a 10V. Pictures will follow when I make this transition. I will use your recommendation from another post about clamp on mounts. Thanks
