Hi.

Due to the rareness of DWs in Europe and the nearly impossibility of importing parts fom the US i would like to try to make some barrel nuts "from scratch".

Problem is.. i am unable to find data like thread dimensions neither tools like tabs e.t.c.

The only thing i found is from an old post from Scorpio:

Anyway, both the 44 mag and the 357 SM barrels I just measured were .652″ dia. 40 TPI (threads per inch)

...but the .652" is not showing up in Datasheets like UNF e.t.c

Our precision mechanic partner shop claims that he would have to make a special tool to cut it on the lathe,

which is exorbitant expensive and definitely not worth it.

Maybe i should wait till the Pandemic is over and take a trip to the states by my self...big-grin

Get some tourists to wear them as rings when they visit Germany. cool. I shipped a bunch of parts to Columbia for a Forum Member. My smart wife disguised barrel tube and nut as as lamp parts. Have someone mix a bunch of other stuff in with a few gun parts.

Hi.

Thx for the tip, done such things years ago with friends in the forces...but even if the barrel nut is not a "real", numbered gun part... problem is that someone with an US Adress had to purchase it first, and i dont want to get anyone in trouble... these days are definetly different from the past. wink

You aren't allowed to import a barrel nut?  Canada has restrictions on some parts, but even then, I can get them imported through a dealer.

Hi.

... if it were to be sent inconspicuously as ... "spare part nuts for fastening grill bars" or something similar.. imho no prob.
But e.g. most of the Gunshops in the US wont sell anything at all to Germany.

And the US authorities are in some cases ... weird ... we had problems getting parts for AR15 models, even if it was just a stupid loading handle ...

I don't have a .44, but I do have a .357 Super Mag.  I never thought that the barrel nut might be different than my other .357s, I thought I used the same tool to remove the barrel in the past; maybe I didn't, or I changed the bit on my EWK tool.  Wish I could help.

Supermag barrel nuts, 357,375,445 are the same as a 44 or 45. The large frame EWK tool will work on a 357 Supermag with a 357 bore insert.
