Mother's Mag Wheel Polish with lot's of patience and soft, clean, dry cloths. I will warn you, though-once you polish it up, you're going to see nicks, dings, and scratches you never knew were there:

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I polished a S&W auto 45 one time, I used 800 grit wet dry sand paper then 1000 grit and then 2000 grit ( available at Wal-Mart) I then used Mothers Mag Polish. Looked like a mirror when done. Hated the gun afterwards. Showed every little spec and finger print. Be careful you may not enjoy the shine like you think you will. Can't even be touched without whipping it down afterwards.

Just picked up my 9mm Shield, the trigger is great and the gun feels good in my hand. I have not heard one bad thing about them yet.

i have not shot it yet just walked in the door with it.

I have a 15-2 that I had re-done in bright nickel. I LOVE it, but I don't shoot it a lot,it's just too perfect.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I've heard of some people having success with a scotch brite pad.  I haven't tried it.  I have used Mother's Mag Polish both before and after a succession of 400, the 600, then 1,000 grit automotive sandpaper.

Steve is right.  Polishing it will expose flaws that aren't seen with the dull finish.  I suggest you look very closely at the frame before starting.  On my Palmer 740, I could see some very faint concentric circles.  I couldn't feel them.  Once I started the polishing, they quickly became very noticeable and my fingernail would snag on the right side.  It took a lot of sanding/polishing to make it look good.  There is still some faint concentric waves if I look closely.  Still I love the bright shine finish.  And it gets a lot of positive looks and comments when I take it to the range.  It wipes clean very easily.

Good luck.  Let us know how it turns out.

As the owner of mostly SS guns, and a guy that is easily distracted by shiny bright objects, I will also say that the very minor imperfections that are revealed by high polish will ALWAYS be more obvious to you, because you know they are there.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
