Use a small triangle file to clean up threads on the barrel. Shouldn't be hard unless they were cross threaded. Run the nut down them slowly and if it gets too tight remove and file a little more where the nut was binding. A drum sander, round stone or cutter set to low RPM on a Dremel will clean up the gouges on the inside of the shroud.

Well…you have forced me to define “damaged” with a picture
I have always done most everything myself guns
there has been hardly anything I have ever needed a gunsmith for …. But, this is definitely one of them
will probably end up sending to CZ, it can probably go from a 8 inch amputee to 6” barrel
thanks

Looks like a barrel nut got rounded out (way over tightened or thread locker) and had to be drilled to make it come out in pieces. Don't know why they had to drill it so many times for the one time I had to do it all I needed was one 1/16" bit thru it to loosen and then tapped it out with a punch. Cheaper to just buy a new barrel from DW.

I doubt that Keith will touch it. If Bob were still there, he certainly would. I have a less-damaged 740 barrel. I was convinced to buy a new one instead of sending it in.
