That looks good. L.B. used a similar "get up" to free mine. He used a piece of leather over the washer to protect the barrel nose cone. The rod he used screwed into EWK's barrel tool. That looks like the regular lugs on the end of the tool you made. I was wondering if it would work better if it was slanted in a cutting fashion [like an easy out] to dig into those nuts that have the slots mangled up. Your system will definitely work in most cases. On the SuperMags you had to screw the barrel backward toward the grip. You will probably need to make a short video or some instructions to show people how it works. L.B. was the genius that got the nut off my  barrel with a system much like yours. I'm glad you guys came up with that. It will be a life saver. smile Here's the thread on the mess that I had:

That's exactly what that tool would be made for. Well, that & for barrel nuts that are just plain stuck in place.

Nice work as always, Eric!!occasion

When will it be available for sale on your web site?  Looks like something every DW owner should have in the tool box, just in case.cool

When we used Erics regular barrel tool [take the pilot out and screw the rod into it] the lugs that stuck out were very sharp on the edge. They seem to cut into the mangled nut where the shoulders were rounded off. Of course tightening it down with the nuts at the back of the barrel helped the the barrel tool lugs dig into the nut. That barrel tool will be a great help. Oh, L.B. wrapped the threads of the rod with tape so they would not accidentally scratch the inside barrel rifling groves. Thanks, guys.

Scorpio, I'm debating like Walt mentioned if I should sell them in a kit form with the grade 8 all thread, nuts, washers etc. Do have the wrench bodies only for both the small and large frame if anyone runs into any problems! smile

Kits are nice, everything needed in one place at the right time.  Makes tough jobs managable.  I can't say I've ever seen grade 8 all thread.  Where is a good place to find it?  I don't think TSC carries it.  Maybe a fastener warehouse or McMaster Carr?

I think a kit would be a good idea.  That way if someone has an issue you are their one stop shop to get everything they need to correct the problem.

You can get grade 8 threaded rod on line places like fasteners inc but you have to buy 3 feet and shipping was 17.95 from washinton. It would be much easier to buy a kit from eric.My only suggestion would be have both small and large tools in kit because you can use 5/16 rod for either.rod length should be about 13" which would cover up to 10" barrel.
