I have a 25yd and 30yd shooting range off the back deck 2 steel targets and have discovered that a 125gr poly coated lead bullet over 3.5gr of Trail Boss is the cat\'s meow for plinking. It\'s accurate, bore is left with no leading, also no copper residue to clean out of barrel and you get 2000 rounds per pound. What\'s not to love about this load??? rnSome like a heavier load for reactive steel which I don\'t have, but I\'ve loaded for 130gr and 158gr poly coated lead bullets. I don\'t like the 158gr due to the heavier recoil is rough on arthritic hands. The 130gr loads I used were had 4.2gr of Trail Boss and with no sight adjustment required. I was using 6\" barrel with a red dot optic.

Nice!! Only downside is Trailboss hasn’t been produced in almost 2 years and not sure when it will be produced again. So you won’t find any once you burn it all up lol. But it may take you awhile to shoot all 2k rounds.
But yeah that’s a nice load. My light powder puff load is a 158 gr SWC blue bullet over 4.2 gr of Sport Pistol or Bullseye in a 357 case.
i use trail boss in my reduced rifle loads. 30-06, 30-30, and 7.5x55 swiss

I'm waiting for spring and possible loading some for 204 to shoot in my 14" Contender G2.
Unless someone here has already worked it out. What's the odds?

I just found the PDF file with the formula for using Trail Boss in any rifle or handgun.
Fill the case to where bottom of bullet will be seated, then weigh the powder. This will be your max load. Then take 70% of that amount (example 40gr x .70 = 28gr for starting load. That comes out to 250 rounds per pound.

The load for those 100 rounds was 180gr JHP by Zero bullet company over 6.6gr of Win 231in new Remington Peters cases with CCI #300 large pistol primers seated to 1.248". No failures and they dropped 8' to 10' from me. Recoil spring used was 24# and 20# hammer spring. The recoil was quite easy to manage even for my 76+ year old hands and was more like shooting my RZ 38 Super the recoil heavy 10mm people talk about.
