While putzing thru some shops today I managed to drag home a basic 4" light shroud and barrel. Yay. But it seems to be for a Mod. 14 as the sight is short compared to my other shrouds and the pin location is different.
I see EWK makes a conversion sight to use a 15 shroud on a 14 but not the other way.
Is such a sight made or have the Dan Wesson gods tricked me into buying a fixed sight gun just to use this part?

Sure he dose, there is the standard sight or the fiber optic ones.

Yeah, But I don't think it's that simple. All those sights seem to be cut for a 15-2 shroud. Hence the term "conversion" for the short sight. All my guessing about this is based on the pin location as it seems there is not enough room to put a 15-2 sight on the 14-2 shroud assumeing they are even cut the same below the surface.
It makes no sense they would make them different but Hey, it's Dan Wesson.
Anyone ever had a 14-2 sight out?

I have had a sight out of my 14-2 barrel. I had to have a 'smith drill the pin out, I could not drive it out. I think you could put a 15-2 sight in it and drill a hole in the sight to pin it in. The part of the sight that goes in the slot will have to be trimmed down, you could file it or use a Dremel if you are careful. The 14-2 does not have as deep of a slot.
Here is a pic of my 14-2 that I shortened an EWK 15-2 FO sight for to work with the lower fixed rear sight. For your 15-2 you could use the standard sight and just shorten the part that goes in the slot 'til it fits, then drill it and pin it. I used a split pin to make it easier to remove again if I want.

The reason is that the 14-2 was really meant to be a service revolver in the '70's, at the time that really meant FIXED sights. The DW interchangeable front sight can loosen, and there are different height front interchangeable sights. The intent of service guns in those days, and really continuing to today, is to make them foolproof and NEVER change. Even in today's Glock/SIG/M&P service pistol world, you rarely see much flexibility in service pistol sighting systems.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks guys, I think you told me what I needed to know. I don't really need it so it can rest in the parts pile till I talk myself into a fixed sight gun. I know, how hard can that be?? Or till someone who needs one desires a swap.
No need to mess with a good part trying to make it something it aint.
