I did a little carving of the grip on my 744... some very shallow finger grooves so it better fits my paws. I'm in the process of finishing the wood and I decided to refinish the medallions. I cleaned them, gave them a light bead blast and have treated them with 'Flemish Grey' darkening solution. The raised portion was then lightly sanded/polished before getting a coating of satin lacquer.
After doing this I thought to myself, 'I wonder how the medallions would look in stainless to match the revolver'...
What do you guys think...should I go for it?

Oh, I'm of the same accord. I'll make a stainless medallion and see how it looks.
Here you can see the shallow finger grooves. It's much more comfortable for my delicate fingers...
I applied some 'pre-'64' spirit dye and a few coats of Tru-Oil.
Medallion models; first is traditional with raised 'DW' and the second is engraved 'DW'. I'm leaning towards engraved.

Very nice work I must say. You seem to have some experience with metal work. I also believe in doing as you wish with your things, after all they are yours. BTW nice job on the grips, those finger grooves came out great.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
