Three questions ...

(1) will a .445 SM barrel wrench fit a .357 SM?  I have one but haven't had a moment to try it yet and feeling lazy

(2) What feeler gauge sizes are needed/suggested for a .445 SM (I read .006") and for a .357 SM (I read .002")?

(3) Grips ... the factory grips feel huge in my hands (I am not so big), any suggestion for aftermarket grips?  The rubber finger groove grips feel good but aesthetics are big to me and I like the look and feel wood grips much better.

Three answers:

(1) No - the pilot of the .445SM wrench is too big to fit in the .357 bore.

(2) .002"

(3) You can have LB make you a smaller grip that will fit your hand or you can try a Hogue wood grip which feels a little bit smaller than the original wood grip.

You could watch ebay and GB for Hogue wood grips. I lucked out on a set on ebay a couple, 2 or 3 years back. Pic below. He said he had just bought a 445 SuperMag and didn’t want to use them for fear of marring them and figured it better to sell them to someone who wanted them rather than hiding them in his safe. A quick email to DW and just as quick a reply revealed that the grip tangs of the 445 SuperMag and the 15-2 are the same size and they assured me the grips would fit my gun. So I bought them for about $30, which was about half the going price on GB at that time. They were right and I WAS A HAPPY CAMPER!

Nice looking shooter Boss Dog. I do have a question. The grip tang of a supermag  and a small frame Dan Wesson are  different.  The original DW grips will not interchange. Hogue grips are built a little different and "May" interchange. Hogue shows different part numbers for the large and small frame but who knows why. If DW told you they will swap I am sure they will,  but does anyone have both large and small frame DW's and Hogue grips to do swap test.  It seems to me if a grip fit both sizes it would be loose on the small frame as it is smaller. You have raised my curiosity.confused

I don't know as I've never held a SuperMag. All I know is the seller said it came from his 'pack' and the DW rep (via email) said it would fit. And it does, in fact it is the tightest of all my wood grips and on a par with the rubber ones for fit. What I do know for sure is... I like it! big-grin

I don't "know", but I think that the large frame/supermag grip will fit into the small frame grip, but I don't think the reverse fit will work.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
