I am getting the itch to get back into the woodworking mode. Unfortunately, still not released for such activities by the doctor yet. He had better hurry or I may just find my way, with or without his recommendation.

I have several pieces of interesting wood ready to go but am trying my best to abide by the Dr's wishes. I may just have to send these to lbruce and let him do his magic. It sure is nice to have a local source for many varieties of exotic woods. Nothing like being able to see what you are buying before you pay for it. If anyone has requests for particular species of woods, feel free to PM me and I will see what I can do for you.

Here are 2 pieces that I've been hoping to do something with for quite a while. May just put them on a lathe and turn em into bowls or something…. naah, these have grips written all over them.

Hey CF,

Nothing quite like being able to waste an hour looking through mountains of wood for that perfect grain pattern or coloration. Sometimes you find the good stuff, other times you strike out and find nothing. Being able to hand pick all pieces definitely has its advantages.

The Asian Satinwood (top) came from the local Woodcraft store and the Eucalyptus came from Austin Fine Lumber. Austin Lumber is where I usually go for board stock, although they have some pretty nice turning blocks at times.

I have offered to help LB source some different woods for his projects should he take me up on the offer. I figure that even if I can't get out there and produce sawdust, I can at least help people find that perfect piece of wood for their own project(s).

You guys will be seeing a finished product out of these 2 blocks eventually- hopefully sooner rather than later.

Go Chris!

Looking forward to seeing the grips made from those terrific pieces of wood.

Just don't compromise your health to get it done.  We can wait.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.
