Stamp "R-P" is Remington, right ?
Could be Remington Arms Company, Inc. first from Bridgeport CT, and later at Lonoke, AR but it is also used by CDM of Mexico.
When in doubt, check out this 'Headstamp Codes' page at the International Ammunition Association website;

The R-P is Remington-Peters. Some ammo may have been loaded in Mexico, as they had contracts with them, and some even look like old Remington boxes, but have a reversed P-R headstamp, but unequivocally, NO .357 Maximum brass with that headstamp was ever made or loaded by anyone other than Remington.
Here's a picture of the Precision Cartridge box.
If you want, I can get the the ends and side views and post them also.

Finally got around to getting the pics of the ammo done, had several home emergency problems that delayed everything, but here they are. Pulled the bullet, a standard Remington 180 grain short-jacket, and the R-P 357 REM MAX brass case. Both measured withing industry standards. Here's a couple of pics of the pulled components and powder. Remember, in my case this powder charge weighed 25 grains.

In your experienced opinion, what should the maximum weight of that powder charge be ?
It's hard to say without knowing exactly what powder that is. If it's H-110 or W-296, those loads top out around 19-20 grains. If it's AA-1680, those loads run up to 22 grains or so. I've never seer any powder suggested for the .357 Maximum that has a charge weight of 25 grains.
And, it may be that my particular lot of this ammo is different from the one that ruined the 2 revolvers. It could be safe, but there is no way I am going to try it. I've already pulled all the bullets and recycled the components. The powder was used as fertilizer in my wife's flower beds.

Must have been your write up on the Ruger Forum, I read 1st, also glad I reload, and lucky I got several bags of Remington cases and some Federal IHSMA cases on Ebay years ago and are still using them. The Remington cases show up on Ebay occasionally and seem to reload many times if not pushed to max loads. Please keep us informed on what happens between you and the ammo maker, as a last resort, I would get a contingency lawyer, the scum of the earth, but they only collect if they win. After seeing the pics, glad you're ok.

From the OP,
It's been several months since the last post, but I just got some news.
After 6 months of emailing, calling, and texting; I just got a check from PC and a letter stating how sorry they were it took so long. That was 180 degrees from their prior attitude of we hate you.
I had given up on the money and have spent my time trying to track down dealers with PC 's 357 Maximum ammo.
I called Grafs and they were not interested in my reports, or tracking any of their prior sales. I actually got the same attitude from the LGS in Parker, AZ., who sold me 6 boxes of the ammo. Unbelievable, originally, I had asked the owner if he knew PC. He said yes and that he had shot it lots. It was good stuff. His wife last week was as nasty to me as anyone has ever been. She says they take no responsibility for any ammo. Period. She swears she told me that when I bought it. Turns out, she wasn't even there that day. So my experience with nasty haters around this mess has not gotten any better.
I am no longer surprised when a store doesn't want to hear another bad ammo story. I think most believe it's just a complainer who doesn't know what they're talking about. It must be tough sifting out the good from the bad; and the bad could cost them money. I think most of us are shooters and our concerns run around safety.
I may still have more analysis data on the powder coming later.

I bought this same ammo in 158 gr Max and have had no problems so far, But this is very disturbing and has me kind of worried now. I bought 4 boxes of this stuff last year and have only shot about a half of a box so far. This company needs to isolate the bad ammo and issue a recall immediately. Like I said, I have had no problems so far with the 158 gr. Maybe it is only the 180gr ammo that is loaded way too hot. Either way I would like to know for sure.
Here is a picture of what my ammo looks like. The bullet has a shiny jacket that matches the brass perfectly. It looks different than your 180 gr bullet that appears more copper. The headstamp reads …R-P 357 REM MAX

Super357guy,
May I please recommend that you pull a bullet from each box before proceeding.
That round of yours does not look like the two different ones posted so far. The bullet is different.
Wow, you have more cajones than me. In 60 years of shooting, nothing has tweaked my melon like a blown up Ruger. My shooting wasn't the same for several months, and I don't know if I will ever get my nerve back like it was. Once bitten, twice shy.
I was the luckiest bastard on the planet that day.
You have two completely unrelated individuals telling you 25 grains of powder is too much of any powder for that round.
You have me posting pics of blown up guns.
You have the manufacturer stating he knew he had dangerous 357 Maximum ammo out there.
May I please recommend that you pull a bullet from each box before proceeding. Measure the powder and please report to all of us. I will try one more time to see what the manufacturer will tell me about lot numbers, powders used, bullets used, and distributors.
This is not a 10,000 cup round. When a maximum round goes off, you can get over 58,000 cup. That kind of pressure can take your fingers clear off not contained. I recall that David Bradshaw, the lead Ruger consulting engineer, took that pressure to 85,000 cup before the Ruger blew. (I need to look that up.) Who knows what cup the PC ammo is at.
May I please recommend that you pull a bullet from each box before proceeding.

What exactly is it that you're trying to say?

Not sure how to do that, the only thing I have ever done with ammo is shoot it. Never dissected a round before. If someone wants to give me info on how to do so I will be more than happy to. I guess its not rocket science, just put it in a vice and vise grip the bullet out…yes?

I think he might be trying to emphasize how important it is to be careful with this ammunition before shooting it and damaging a gun or suffering an injury.
Stinger, "What exactly is it that you're trying to say?"
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I wouldn't recommend that, especially if you aren't familiar with breaking a round down. You really should use a bullet puller. Or, maybe send a round to one of the interested parties in this thread and let them do the autopsy.

Ahhh, redundancy again.
