I know this has been discussed here before and I could do a search and probably find it but I really would rather just ask. What are the visual identifying differences between the different models of DW's. I see from looking at gunbroker that there are model 12's, 14's & 15's. I have even seen some Model D-11 & 11S and even a model 715. So how would I know what I am looking at by just looking...since there are no model number on the revolvers??
Thanks

I've found these pages on the to be very helpful in referencing models that I see in auctions, etc.
https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/models-2/revolvers/small-frame-revolvers
https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/models-2/revolvers/large-frame-revolvers
https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/models-2/revolvers/supermag-series
Or just go to the archive tab at the top of this page, drop down menu to models, drop down to revolver models and you'll get to the same info and even more. I don't think every model is represented, but it's a great place to start.

Ill give the quick and short answer. A 7 means Stainless as in 715 is a stainless model 15.
Model 11 was an early fixed sight revolver
Model 12 was a early model adjustable sight revolver
After a few upgrades they became the model 14 fixed sight and 15 adjustable sight.
Then for a short time there was the 14-1 and 15-1
Then the most common and most current model is the 14-2 and 15-2. The -2 is commonly just dropped in conversation.
Of course you have to sort out the pork chop models that changed I believe during the 14-1 15-1 era but I am not sure about the when. Others may expand or even correct on my ramblings. But this is a start.
