I've found so far, that faded bluing won't fix, the fading stays there. However you can give this a shot...
Once you have any oil wiped off, use a super soft microfiber cloth & give it good waxing. That's right, I use Mother's carnuba wax (with no cleaners), it will make a noticeable difference & it leave a great shine.

I have seen posts on other sites where people have used Flitz on blued finishes, but I HAVE NO PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS. If you try something like this, I'd try a very small, unobtrusive spot (maybe under the grip?).
Possibly a very fine rubbing compound, then wax.
Or, try this:

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have used Flitz on all my blued guns with no problems. Take what you think is a clean, non-rusted blued gun, rub some Flitz over a part of it and see all the fine surface rust that shows up on your rag...it turns a nice shade of rust brown. You won't believe how rusty your nice, blue guns are.
Every gun I get, whether brand new from the factory, or used, gets a full Flitz treatment right away. It works great on stainless guns also.
If you've seen my .375 SuperMag pics recently, you wouldn't believe how grungy it was when I first got it. A few applications of Flitz turned it into a show piece. I would post before and after pics, but I am in a hotel on a trip right now, and it won't work here...have to wait til I get home to show you.

Flitz works great as long as the gun does not have rust, or cold blue on it, it will strip cold blue off in a heartbeat, I know this since i used it on my k 22 smith, that the previous owner had touched up with cold blue, right now its at a local gunsmith getting the cylinder reblued, the frame is 98 original finish.
