They simply screw together and there is only one way the star goes in to the cylinder however there is a bit of fine file work to be did to get the thing turning Correctly. That having Ben said u need 2 needle nose players and PVC tape. remember to put some oil in there for the springs and around the ejection rod. Then comes the FUNN providing the star fit's were it is supposed to it might need filed a bit smaller to be fitted properly. Now you are most likely going to need to file some angles on the star part this is the FUNN part. Remember use some oil as you file and you are going to need to check the function every so often so as not to remove to much material. After about 60 min of this it should start to revolve better u may need to mark the chambers that hang up do u can focus on them. IMHO if I hade to do it all over again let you're pistol smith deal with it. There is a reason the extractor is listed by DW as factory instal. Good luck

It is VERY important that the hand be fitted to the star, otherwise timing is going to be off and that could cause MAJOR problems if you try to fire it like that. I'd get a gunsmith to do it or have Dan Wesson do the modification.

Thank you Scorpio i made the best attempt I could to describe the process. However I'm with you and would never have did this my self but I was under supervision of a trained pistol smith And even having did it 1 time I would not do it again unsupervised.
LET THE PRO'S HANDLE IT !!!
its going to run about 3-400$$$ for the smiths @DW to do it advantage is when you pull the trigger you don't have to wonder if you might lose a few fingers or a hand.
