Is it my imagination that the Lg frame target grip is smaller than the small frame target grip and angled different?

It depends on which grips you are comparing. There are a lot of different sizes in small frame grips, some sizes are subtle enough that the difference isn't really noticed until you actually wrap your fingers around them. The same with large frame grips, although the size selection seems fewer.

That's what I noticed too about the target grips on the 15-2's and 22 I got. they look the same size but their ever so slightly different and you can tell just like you said.
