Took my new-to-me 15-2 to the range today and initially shot 2 different "medium" level handloads. Powder is Alliant 2400 which I've had good results with for .357. Bullets were a 125 gr Remington SJHP and a 158 gr TC profile hard cast. The 125 gr gave mediocre accuracy, which was loaded at 16.0 gr, max is 17.5 gr. The 158 gr was loaded with 14.5 gr, also short by a full grain. The 158 was more accurate. I also had some 158's over a max charge of Hodgdon L'il Gun which also shot well. Do these guns like heavier bullets and heavy charge weights ?

I think they do like the 158's better. I have a scoped 715 VH8 and it shoots 2-3" groups at 100 yards.
I'm using Zero 158 gr JSP/JHPs over 14.5 gr 2400.
The bullets are extremely accurate, well made and most importantly, cheap. The following prices INCLUDE shipping:

You will not find a cheaper jacketed 38 cal bullet. Lots of bullseye shooters use Zero bullets. I've shot thousands of these in 357 and 44 mag - no complaints.

Hey Andrew thanks for replying !! My son shot an excellent group with the Penn 158 gr TCBB Penn and 17.0 gr L'il Gun. Unfortunately since Freedom Arms issued an advisory on LG I stopped using it (forcing cone erosion). Back to #2400. I found a stash of Lyman cast 170 gr Keith SWC and will try next time. I've used Zero for 9 mm loads before which worked well. If the gun likes the 170's I'll buy some 158 gr K SWC and see how they do. Those 3 driving bands should give good accuracy, hopefully. I suppose I could try some Unique I have on hand also if #2400 doesn't get me there...
