I've got a new (to me) Monson 15-2 with a problem. When the gun is held level or pointed down, it cycles just fine. When it is angled up, however, the cylinder won't rotate on all chambers. I've had the side plate off and taken a look. The hand just misses the ratchet when the gun's pointed up.
The hand spring appears to be correctly installed and is putting pressure on the hand. In any event, even when pointed down the engagement between hand and ratchet is minimal-to-microscopic. The hand clearly needs work.
What I need to know is whether there is a way to refit the old hand. Can it be peened? Can I shave a bit of metal off the front shoulder to gain more purchase? Is there another fix?
Alternatively, is there a source to purchase a hand?
I'd welcome any advice.
