Ah now I see what you mean Ese. I am sorry I did not dig as deep as I should have yesterday. My HS and 15-2 hand springs are shaped the same, but now I see you are right the coil part on the newer one is a larger diameter.
Here is HS MKII on the bottom and 15-2 on the top-
And I now see the difference in the transfer bars HS on the bottom and 15-2 on the top--
I apologize for being incorrect on this. It is obvious I'd never make a living working on firearms

Grrr He drug his feet and now it appears that hammer and trigger already sold to someone else.
Oh well. I told him if he was serious he better jump on those. Still on the hunt for those two parts. I'm sure something else will turn up eventually. In the mean time he did place the order for the barrel tool and spring kit. We can at least work on that when they show up.
I can not figure out how to return PM's. Send me your email or phone number and I can probably fix you up. I have a BUNCH of extra parts. BTW , the model 12 handspring wrapped around the connector and pushed against the hand. They were a weak link in the lockwork and it was the first change made. A hole in the connector and the slot in the side of the hand made trimming and shaping the hand spring unnecessary.. my first dan I worked on was a 12 with a broken hand spring and it gave me fits. I would suspect that as long as the heavier spring is used with the more robust connector they would be interchangeable. Again., I have several extra triggers, hammers, connectors , and a few hand springs. EWK 's are fine by the way. I also swear by Wolff trigger return springs as the single best thing you can do to improve the action.

PM inbound with email to respond to. Many thx.
Really, sincerely appreciate all this help from everyone. I really hope to get this thing squared away. I'm really upset about those missed parts. I should have just bought them myself. Oh well, lesson learned.
Curious, if we swapped the entire lockwork out with another set that wasn't the High Standard (actual Dan Wesson set) would in theory it probably drop into this High Standard frame and work? Not out of the question if its feasible. Just drawing at straws here.

If you change the hand, you'll likely have timing issues.

Looks like Ole Dog just might have what I need. He's been down for the count with the flu so it took him a few days to take a look at what he had available. I appreciate all the advice and offers for parts from everyone. I really do. So much so that I'll throw a donation towards the forum as my way of saying thanks here real soon.
Bidding on a few grips on ebay right now. Hopefully we win one of them. Just thought I'd post an update.
I'm excited to move forward with this project and eventually putting some downrange with it.
Cheers.

I am good to go. The wife has cleared me to go to the Post Office. Happy wife, Happy Life . Ron , you might take that to heart concerning your recent exile. So send me your address. If there is more you need I will fix you up. I suspect there is your own dan in the future.

The barrel tool and spring kit arrived today.
Just waiting on having a new trigger in hand so we can test it out. That barrel tool is neat. It is pretty cool to be able to swap your barrel out like this. Silly me I left the house without the feeler gauge set but my buddy said he is going to hit up an autoparts store soon and get one of his own. Once we have a replacement trigger I'm hoping all goes well and solves the issue so we can get some rounds down range with this bad boy.

So its a bitter sweet victory this afternoon. I have the worst luck sometimes lol!
Firstly many thanks to ole dog. The trigger arrived today. Looking promising we put it all back together and to my amazment it actually worked. The revolver was cocking and staying cocked in single action. The trigger pull in both double and single are actually pretty sweet. If the trigger pull was still gritty I was going to read through the fluff and buff thread again but we both agreed it would be perfect as is.
So we did a few dry fires for functionality check because we had to. All felt great and I was confident we could be at the range tomorrow morning putting some .38/.357 down range. Just before we decided to put it into my range bag I noticed something small and shiny drop out of the cylinder gap and onto my work desk.
As soon as I picked it up and looked at it I knew exactly what it was and I lets just say I started to beat my head against that desk. The freaking firing pin tip had decided to shear itself off. Of all the rotten luck. I thank the good lord that I noticed it drop when it did because being at the range with 6 in the cylinder ready to go would have been a big buzz kill when all we got was just a click.
Anyone with a spare pin or know where to point us to purchase one I'm all ears..............
ole dog's generous donation trigger on the left and our worn out one on the right. The only difference I saw was that his didn't have that relief cut on the top like ours did for the spring but it didn't seem to affect anything sitting on top of the replacement one instead of in that groove like before.
Here she was all ready for surgery lol. Actually just the simple task of re assembly utilizing the new trigger and roll pins/springs from the EWK kit. In taking apart and reassembling this thing I've gotten pretty quick at it.
The latest obstacle standing in our path of bringing that thing back to life.......... When I punched the roll pin out to swap the spring I took a look at it before putting it back together. The pin looked ok as far as I could tell. All back together and a couple of dry fires later there it is. I'm just not sure how I buggered it up if it was in fact the way I reassembled it. Anyways, theres the latest 2 piece version of the firing pin. Previous revisions were one single piece. Stick to the older ones folks. Sorry just trying to make my self laugh a bit here.
Seriously I'm so sad right now its depressing. I was looking forward tomorrow morning but all is not lost. I still have to help another friend sight this in who was going to meet up with us. 5.56 related stuff always puts a smile on your face.I'll survive hehe.
Seriously, we both sincerely appreciate all the support advice and ole dog's generosity in sending the trigger. I believe in karma and good things will come your way folks.
Cheers all. Frustrated in Texas, Jeremy

To be honest I haven't a clue on the timing issue. When single cocked it appeared that the cylinder was locked in place with minimal wiggle and was good to go. This is the first time I've ever messed with a revolver's internal workings so while frustrating its been a good learning experience for sure.

Tiny bit of good news on this project. We hit up the funshow today and found two nice DW grips for 20 bucks each. He snagged them both. Compared to the Hogue rubber one it was sporting these are just classy looking. Gotta love the combination of good old wood and blued steel.
ole dog's our hero right now. He offered up even more parts including the much needed firing pin we now need.
Didn't hit up the range early today because I had forgotten about the gun show. So we hit up a buddy of mine who lives out away from town. He has a little shoot house gallery area on his property where we did some night fire tonight. The gun I was supposed to help set up and sight in a scope went flat top naked tonight and we just used his irons. The main reason he wanted to go tonight was he had never shot his Vortex flash hider on that AR at night. Lemme tell you all I'm a believer now. Compared to my A2 birdcage which honestly isn't as bad as some might make it out to be that Vortex rocks at minimizing the flash. I just might have to cut off the a2 on my 14.7 inch barrel and have a Vortex pinned in its place now.
Sorry for the thread derail. I'm just juiced about tonight. We had a lot of fun. I'll post a pic thread and a few videos in the proper forum area. Wish we had that High Standard up and running tonight. I'd like to see the muzzle flash of some full house .357 at night.

Sorry for the delayed update to this thread.
Ole Dog really hooked us up on this one. I am forever in his debt. Having the correct hand spring seems to have done the trick. Time to graduate from snap caps here at the workbench to hitting up the range and going hot with some live rounds. I think we will work with some .38spl first for a bit and see how that goes before upgrading to full house .357. Cylinder seems to lock up tight after a double action pull where before sometimes after the hammer had fell I could still rotate it.
Hoping to have a chance to hit a range up this weekend but might have to wait till sometime late next week. I'm really excited to see this firearm back in action.
Wish us luck.
Cheers Jeremy in Texas

Sorry for the delay response. I'm still waiting on my friend to get the greenlight to go test out this high standard. With snap caps in place all seems good to go so I'm confident the range trip will be a success. Sadly its not my firearm so I'm not going to go shoot it without him being present. I think his biggest hurdle will be getting a kitchen pass from the wife. Beyond my control or I'd have already been to the range and back with a report.
I've started another AR project. Damn your good deals Palmetto State Armory lol. At this rate I'll be putting rounds down range with that before my friend gets to shoot this high standard of his. It might wind up I'm buying the rounds and paying his range fee to get him greenlighted. Honestly worth it to me because I really want to see the results of our handiwork. I enjoyed working on the revolver. It was fun to learn how it functioned.
Just thought I'd update everyone on the status if you were still wondering.
cheers jeremy in texs

Update time........
Previously mentioned AR project is functional and rounds down range before this high standard revival
On a positive note my friend picked up some .38 spl rounds........... "finally". Its another step in the right direction.
Now he just has to get that kitchen pass from the wife lol. Easier said than done sometimes. One of these days hoping to update that range day thread lol. Wish us luck.
