I have a Monson made DW Model 41V with 8" barrel and rubber grips.
I would like to upgrade the grips to something like a Resin-S Ivory.
I have reached out to LB although it seems from his site that he only works in wood. His site also states that he is not taking new work.
Someone here posted a photo of what he described as “Spalted Sugar Maple after some magic”. which looks like bone and is a possibility.
Will see after Larry has an opportunity to respond.
Any suggestions for option 2 if needed?
TY.
The best way to get grips is eBay. Just be patient and most everything will show up eventually. You need large frame or Supermag grips. Round tang. Ivory resin may be a problem though. Larry has made some I know of but you may have to provide the faux ivory. Smooth Zebras are what upscale large frames wear. A nice piece of Claro Walnut would float my boat. I have probably a couple of hundred grips of all sorts but no faux ivory. Eagle made a solid rosewood large frame finger groove. Very rare. DW made a solid smooth rosewood grip for the first 500 44 mags. They show up occasionally if folks used the Dove Grey guns for silhouette and put a Hogue on it.
FYI if you can find a stock (maker Larry B) and find some hollywood to buy it is known as a poormans ivory. I've been meaning to send Larry some to see if he would be able to take on the chore of making a couple up. keep your eyes open for holly trees out in the country for stocking up. you'll be supprized how hard it is. take care in slow curing it has a tendency t crack.
