Hello, does anyone know where i can get hold of a tread making tap ?

I need that to make a new barrel nut for a Dan Wesson Mod .40 357 supermagnum.

According to CZ, the threads are:

21/32 x 40 ( 40 threads per inch )

It looks like the threads is withwort, 55 degrees thread angle.

It appears to be some sort of costum made threads, since i cannot get hold of the correct tap.

Can anyone comment on that ?

Will they not ship one to you in Norway?  I'm not sure what the correct pitch is but would be glad to sell you one of my extract stainless barrel nuts.  Just let me know.

I am going to make one thats a bit stronger than the original, since the notches in the original gets worn out easely.

I will make it in the shape of a muzzle brake with holes.

It will be possible to remove it using a phillips in one of the holes, and the material will be

ti6al4v Titanium.

You might need to cut the threads on a lathe.

Another option might be to re-cut the threads on the end of the barrel.  This gives you a greater range of thread size and pitch options.

I wouldn't think Dan Wesson would use Whitworth threads.  About the only things here in the US that had Whitworth are British cars and motorcycles.

The British "standard" was anything but:

Sounds like you haven't been using one of EWK's barrel wrenches.Wink

(the wrench in the upper right of this screen)

By the way, EWK also sells barrel nuts...maybe he could be persuaded to make you a custom nut?? Maybe?

suppressors generally does not work any good on revolvers because the gas leak from the barrel/tun gap.

But on a Nagant M1895 Revolver, it works good.
