I took my old dan wesson apart to re blue it. Long story short I suck at bluing. I want to get it cerakoted black but I need to get it back together first.
The gun is pretty worn. I want to replace the extractor star. Also need to replace the cylinder hand as its chipped and isnt operating properly.
I know ewk has springs and screws but I dont see these other parts on their site.
I ron, I wish I had an answer you would like , but.... Those two parts, especially the extractor , rarely show up on ebay. The star and the hand have to be fitted to each other by someone with experience (not me ) or the timing will be off. I believe DW only sells those parts with factory installation or to gunsmiths. This is for liability issues. It would be a costly learning curve in any case for a novice. The hands you usually get on ebay have been fitted to a stripped gun or were worn and replaced. You would have to find NOS or you could be wasting your money. You might be better off with a gun from Gunbroker or a frame from Toltec. If you can get by with replacing just the hand, a used part may work with a small expense.

Take care if ceracoating a revolver. There was a thread on a different forum where someone else ceracoated a revolver (not a DW) & the coating was thick enough to bind up lots of moving parts rendering the gun useless.
Matthew Quigley on handguns:
“I said I never had much use for one. Never said
I didn't know how to use it.”

Well I decided im slightly over my head. Im gonna take it to a gunsmith and let him restore the whole gun. Its just too cool of a weapon to let go to waste. Im gonna talk to him about either hot bluing or cerakote. I like the idea of coating it because this gun will be used in a boat, in my truck, and on my hip in the woods, but bluing looks so much better.
Thanks guys. I will update when I find out.
