All
I recently send my .44 DW off to have the extractor repaired. In particular the extractor tube was split and the rod was damaged. This is how it came back. The person who worked on it claimed there was no new tube to be found and he replaced the tube with a "used" part. These are photographs of how it was returned. Please give me your honest feedback. I'm not comfortable with what I'm seeing.

Thank you all.
My thoughts exactly.
This is how it came back from Mike Heffron, Heffron Firearm Classics.
This is the repair I waited over 4 months for. I have sent these pictures to Mr. Heffron and am awating his response. I won't even go into the rest of what I see.
Needless to say I am in dire need of a pistol smith who can repair this extractor properly without causing additional damage to the gun. This is my second bad experience. I initially tool this pistol to Andy Gazaway here near Atlanta who did less than no work in 4 months also, and in fact returned the pistol to me in worse shape than orginally - it was unsafe.
If anybody has recommendations for a pistol smith who is:
-honest
-familiar with and good with dan wesson revolvers
-a professional
-can provide reasonable turn around
-provides good value for money (note: I did not say "cheap" and this is the last thing on the list)
PLEASE let me know.
If there is someone within a couple hours drive of Atlanta I want to go look that person in the eye and shake that persons hand
I'm so upset right now I could just..........shoot something?

Contact CZ-USA/Dan Wesson at (607) 336-1174 , or email at dwservice@cz-usa.com and arrange to send it back to the factory for repair. Then, contact Heffron and demand a refund. I wouldn't trust or send it to anyone else, no matter how good a gunsmith they are.
Harly is pointing you in the right direction. You need to contact Keith Lawton at Dan Wesson in Norwich. Here is his email address: keith@cz-usa.com
I've sent a couple of things to Keith and team and have been please with the results. Tell him the guys at DWF pointing you in their direction.

Paperman,
I have to agree with the guys above. I have sent several revolvers to Keith for upgrades, repairs or customizing and they have always treated me right and the finished product was nothing less than better than when I sent it to them. The only other smiths who have done work for me so far are JD Jones and Gary Reeder, but they were not on DW's. I know having communicated with Gary Reeder they do customize Dan's for folks, but I do not know about actual "repair".
My 2 cents....

Well I'm not one to bash anyone and hesitated to mention this before, but I did send Mr. Heffron my .22 Mag for a key Holing issue. He did crown the muzzle and worked on the forcing cone, but the gun still shoots (not Mike) poorly. It could be the gun or the ammo, but I was disappointed. Talking with him he spent a lot of time with me and explained what he did and said it shot well for him, so I don't know. I was just expecting it to be fixed. Not so.
But papermen, that's appalling work. I can't believe he would have done that and expected you to accept that amateur a job. Guess we have to demand better, but where?

Hmm, good point, these is a difference in the .22 LR and .22 Mag barrel bore/groove specs...this may throw a wrench into things with what I'm thinking-anyone know if the Dan Wesson .22 Mag barrel thread where it threads into the frame is the same as on the .22 LR barrels/frames? I don't have a .22 mag to compare.
Sounds good KPM!

Maybe with any luck, this will be the last time Heffron crosses our radar screen. I kept my promise to stay out of the last topic about this guy, I won't any longer.
This does not appear to be either an ethical businessman or a knowedgeable, capable Dan Wesson gunsmith.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The barrels are interchangeable. They are not marked accordingly and I believe they are the same barrel.
