This has come up before, but I came across this

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=33&t=78196

on AR15.com, with specifics about how, what product to use, and outstanding photos of results

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That's sbout what I did with my Seville, only I used Flitz. Only I didn't polish on it too long, because I wanted to retain some of it's brushed look & not polish it to a mirror finish. It ended up looking purty schweet, IMO.Cool

Thanks for the link Steve!

I have read about the Mother's Mag Polish before and seen the results.  Makes me want to find a beat up stainless Dan and see if I could make it look like the Nick!

How long does the mirror finish last if you choose to go that far.  Not sure of a DW should be so bright anyway.

Actually, I was wondering the same thing about how long it lasts like that, I sort of got the impression it was permanent, but I'll check. I'm with Jody, it would be great to find a beater SS pistol to try it on. Not sure I want to try it on a nice Dan Wesson

While we are on the subject. What is the "best" way to clean up small scratches on a stainless, while maintaining the original finish?I am tempted to do the mirror polish but afraid if It doesnt come out to my satisfaction, or I just don't like it, there is no going back. Any suggestions are welcome.

I have read somewhere that going over them with a brown scotch-brite pad will restore the original look.

Haven't tried it yet though...

I've been using the regular green ScotchBrite pads and I'm happy with the results.

I'd start as fine and non-invasive as possible, and get more agressive. Once you go too far, it's tough to go back. Start out light and easy and work up to where you want to be. I have done some touch up on stainless and I can tell you ScotchBrite works, but you gotta go slow.

I'm trying to get more info from the ArfCom poster. I'll put it up here if I get more

I really want to polish some stainless, not sure that I want to experiment on a Dan

I posed some questions to JETWC on ar15.com about his SS polishing procedure. Here's the thread link again, scroll down about 6 posts to get good info on procedure and results.
I'd like to find a good candidate to try this on
