My DW likes W296 powder....and will embarass me if I try others!
(Haven't tried 2400 yet , but everything else : it rejected.)
It also favors the 140 gr HP's over everything else I've tried to feed it.
With 19 grains of W296.

Sorry it took so long to respond Gnarly,my bad.
Yesterday i went and tryed a load of Power Pistol 7.5 Grs,and a 158gr lead load that shot very well in my gun.
I have a bunch of dif.powders and i believe ill try H110 next.I prefer to shoot lead as its a LOT cheaper, and,it does the job very well.
That load was from a reloading Man.a starting load.Speer Man.#13.
The load is for a jacket bullet,so i started on the low side.the load stated is 963fps,with a jacketed bullet.for now i will load some more and then start on some H110.It seams that a lot of people like this powder for the 357 mag.and it is touted as one of the cleaner burning powders.pan.

My 15-2 with a 6" barrel likes 11.3gr of Blue Dot with CCI primers pushing a 158gr Hornady XTP to around 1300fps. This load has taken at least 6 deer with all being 1 shot kills. Accuracy with a scope is 2" at 80 yards
I recently bought a DW .44 mag with a 6" fixed barrel and it shoots just as good as my .357 but I'd like to have had another DW with interchangable barrels. So far I've only played with two loads and haven't had much time to play it. My current load is 27.8gr of H110 pushing a 200gr XTP. very good with open sights.
Maybe in the future I'll find a good DW .44 with a 4" barrel.
When I had my model 15 in 357mag I used both 296 and H110 with equal success and best accuracy was with semiwadcutters in the 158gr range. It's been several years so I don't have the load data, but I did remember getting sub 1" groups at 50 yds with a sandbag rest. I now have the 357max and it seems to prefer 16gr of 4227 and the 200gr GC LFN. I get 1 1/2" groups at 100yds with scoped 8" barrel and sandbag rest. Once you find the bullet wt and powder your gun preferrs, it'll shoot better than you thought possible. I spent 3 years experimenting with my Max til I found the right combo. It shot well with the 180 and 200gr TMJ target loads, but they got expensive and the LFN's shoot even tighter than the jacketed. My loads are from the T/C load manual for the Max.
